I cant believe the negative reviews! This is by far the best Neil Diamond DVD out there! Sure, if you like all that Heartlight/Coming-to-America/Bring-me-no-flowers crap, and if you like his glittery costumes and Vegas schtick, then youll hate this DVD. Mainly because ND was still a great songwriter/performer at this point. After 1976, Neil slowly moved into the realm of shlocky muzak balladeer, down there with Lionel Richie & Leo Sayer. Some reviewers complain about the sound. If you have a decent stereo TV, this sounds fine. Just turn it up. Those with 5.1 surround sound and a pristine home theater will hate this and most 60s & 70s DVDs. Such people wouldnt be happy unless Neil played in their freaking living room! Yes, I think Hot August Night is his undisputed peak, but until that is released on DVD, this Australian show stands as classic Neil Diamond. I subtract one star for the cheesy 70s synthesizer that replaces counter-melody guitar lines on Cracklin Rosie & a few others. Thankfully, there are no disco songs to cringe over.

Great show and excellent quality DVD filmed very early in 1976 (before the Beautiful Noise album was released and the Love At The Greek live album was recorded). ND fans will love it.

I remember this concert as a teenager growing up just north of Sydney. Diamonds Australian tour had been a sellout around the nation and this concert was televised live on Channel 9 from the old Sydney Sports Ground which has since been demolished and replaced by the Sydney Football Stadium.
Colour television had only been introduced into Australia the year before and this was one of the first major concerts televised in colour which made the experience even more memorable. I especially liked reliving the live ads he read on stage so that the television coverage didnt have to cut away for commercial breaks!
38,000 people in the ground and Diamond at his best. Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and his wife in the front row says plenty about the event.
A great trip down memory lane for those who remember the concert - a must have addition to the Record / CD / DVD collection for any Diamond fan.

This is a DVD made from his trip to Australia in 1976, it was put on national TV all over Australia because all his concerts where sold out and the rest of the people in Australia still wanted to see him.
